01/01/2018 I enjoyed doing Book Bingo so much last year that I’ve made myself a new ‘card’ for this year too. So much more fun than reading for numbers.
Update: 3/3/2019 – Book Bingo 2018 = Achieved!
Here is everything I read for my 2018 challenge, with links to my posts. Yeah, I didn’t quite achieve it all within the year, but you know what? I still win (and get a lovely big Achievement Badge – ‘thank you bkfrgr’, ‘why you’re welcome bkfrgr’). Mwah ha ha ha!
Visit another world – Retribution Falls, The Black Lung Captain and The Iron Jackal by Chris Wooding (They all count – that way I earn extra credit)
Return to a book you DNF – Assassin’s Apprentice by Robin Hobb
Ghosts! – Heart’s Blood by Juliet Marillier
Read the book then watch the movie – Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer (I’ve not yet watched movie. I bought it, finally, only to find that our region one dvd player has died. My brother currently has it because he’s a tech wizard and will magic it onto a usb for me. I’m still counting this as achieved because I’m the boss of this bingo … it’s not the boss of me! Also, I got extra credit above. So there).
Go back in time – Just One Damned Thing by Jodi Taylor
Spaceships! – Alien Earth by Megan Lindholm
Read a book with a one-word title – Chalice by Robin McKinley
Read a sequel – Twilight Robbery by Frances Hardinge
Read a book with a purple colour – A Thousand Nights by E K Johnston
Unicorns! – The Unicorn Creed by Elizabeth Scarborough
Read a diverse Fantasy – Beasts Made of Night by Tochi Onyebuchi
Fairies! – Tam Lin by Pamela Dean
Read a book from your TBR pile – Six Wakes by Mur Lafferty
Artificial Intelligence! – A Closed and Common Orbit by Becky Chambers
Read a diverse Sci-Fi – The Stars Are Legion by Kameron Hurley AND the Binti trilogy by Nnedi Okorafor
Go forward in time – The Girl in the Road by Monica Byrne (Totally cheating here – there no time-travel, there’s just two characters travelling in different times, and that’s close enough for me!)
Read a banned book – A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess
Zombies! – The Boy on the Bridge by M R Carey
Re-read something – The Hobbit by J R R Tolkien (I reread it after having a mini meltdown in December. I’ve not posted anything about it because, well heck, what can be said about The Hobbit that’s not already been said? It’s been a comfort read for me in the past and it was again this time round. End of).
Meet a new species – Beholder’s Eye by Julie E Czerneda
I get a badge!! Woo!!
