Fun for Monday: Dreamy Book Covers

As this blue mood of mine doesn’t seem to be shifting, I thought I’d try to inspire myself with a tag about one of my favourite things: book covers. Not much talking going on here, just a few visual delights. This is another tag I found via the wonderful Zeezee, and it was created by Tiana the Book Raven, who I’ve linked to below because there are… …RULES: Thank the person who tagged you and spread the love. (I wasn’t tagged, but thank you Zeezee for always finding such excellent tags). Mention the creator of this tag: Tiana @ The … Continue reading Fun for Monday: Dreamy Book Covers

Fun for Monday: 3 Bookish Things

Right, let’s get this year’s tag count up, shall we? I found this tag over at Zeezee’s and she got it from Kristin Kraves Books. I’ve mentioned before that Zeezee is my go-to-gal for tags and she has an awesome Long List of Book Tags here that you can view either as a straight list, or organised by theme, which is just perfect. Thank you, Zeezee, for being so very, very fabulous! So without further ado, let’s talk about bookish things. In threes.   3 Read-Once-and-Loved Authors Octavia E Butler. Wow. Maryam the Curious SFF Reader and I recently did a … Continue reading Fun for Monday: 3 Bookish Things

Power of Three by Diana Wynne Jones

It’s a trick she pulls off beautifully every time and one of the things that brings me back to her books again and again. Three peoples live on the Moors: the Lymen, the Dorig … Continue reading Power of Three by Diana Wynne Jones

Unnatural Creatures edited by Neil Gaiman & Maria Dahvana Headley

Yet again I haven’t quite read what I planned during Wyrd and Wonder month. In part, this is down to these being extraordinary times and my reading moods not being as predictable as they would normally be. Still, we roll with the punches, eh?   An interesting volume of sixteen short stories, the earliest first published back in 1885 and the most recent in 2013, Unnatural Creatures has been lurking next to the bed for the last two months as my antidote to not being able to get to sleep. Every time I’ve found myself unable to get comfortable or … Continue reading Unnatural Creatures edited by Neil Gaiman & Maria Dahvana Headley

Fun for Monday: A Fantasy Dinner Party

As we’re nearing the end of Wyrd and Wonder 2020 it seems appropriate that my last tag be a gathering of some favourite characters for a big ol’ shindig. The Literary Dinner Party tag was done in a delightfully fantasy way for Wyrd and Wonder a couple of years ago by Anouk of Time for Tales and Tea and was originally created by NEHOMAS2. Let’s get this party started, shall we?   One character who can cook/likes to cook My first invitation has to go out to Mrs Smith from The Anvil of the World by Kage Baker, not only … Continue reading Fun for Monday: A Fantasy Dinner Party
